The following video is an advertisement for Durex a brand of condoms. The first time I watched this I thought it was really funny. Then I realized what the advertisers of this product were thinking. It seems to me that they make the issue of sex comical to acquire a new market of consumers, such as young teenagers. Next time you walk down that isle don’t tell me this commercial won’t pop in your head.

I remember seeing this on CollegeHumor. I thought it was pretty comical and I do see where Durex is trying to sell this product to teenagers. I dont know how many Clarkson Students look at CollegeHumor, but I know that it had many views and many comments regarding the humorous nature of the video.
ReplyDeletewow. that was definitely one of the funniest condom commercials I have seen! I agree with the preious statements. Durex's advertising is targeting younger people. This seems like a good move on their part since younger peeople (teenagers and college students) seem to be more apt to buy codoms than older people that are married and perhaps ready to start a family.

This is a great commercial targeted at young consumers. This target market is usually the hardest to reach, so company's must be innovative and creative in the ways they advertise to this portion of the market. Condoms are definitely used most by the younger market, and comedy is one way to grab the attention of a young adult.
ReplyDeleteI got this commercial as a text on my cell one day as a chain letter. It is pretty funny but I wouldn't say they are trying to target young people. I think by haveing animals doing it in all types of positions with multiple partners they are trying to get people to think of sex with condoms differently. I think they want to try and make people realize that sex with condoms isn't that bad. The animals are ballon animals because they are made of condoms. I can see how appealing ballon animals would be appealing to childern but do you remember how old you were when ballon animals became uncool. If you were big into ballon animals after ten, I would be surprised. Don't read into this too much. It's a condom commercial made by a condom company to sell condoms by making them seem more fun.
