Selling Cool

Alright, so we talked a bit about advertisements recently. It's kinda late, maybe I'll add some more analysis of this later. Basically, its about about marketing to teen culture. They are after our money! This video is pretty cool, and it's by PBS! I highly recommend this video.

Oh yea, it's about an hour long.

  1. Last year I took a course called Culture and the Global Imaginary. We watched "Merchants of Cool" in class and also read the novel "Pattern Recognition." From what I gathered from the video and book, production is based on the desires and wants of the consumers. Big businesses thrive on understanding what we the consumers will buy. I think it is disgusting that the world is so consumer driven. People need to get back to basics and stop being so concerned with material wants. -Alexandra Tomo
