The article relates to ethics in government and the current controversy. I think its sad when our own Ethics Committee may not be ethical in its actions. It would be a hell of a coincidence if they just happened to be fully investigating only African Americans. But then again, is Yahoo a good source for this kind of information? Are they biased? I don't know!

ReplyDeleteThis is a really interesting article that deals with issues we are just currently discussing in class dealing with politics. I am unsure as to if Yahoo is a reputable site to report news on, however, this article definitely seemed more informative rather than opinion or biased. They talked and interviewed different people on the topic rather than just sticking to a specific person's opinion who claims to be an "expert" in the field. It is sickening that these types of discrimination are still present. Even if the whole article is fabricated, there is always some truth to every story and I am sure that African Americans are being investigated while Caucasians are not and they are not being given respectable answers as to why. Politics as we have seen is a harsh field to enter and any minority must be ready for backlash. My older sister just graduated from Ithaca College in May of 2008, after she graduated to worked in Rochester on a political campaign for Dollinger I believe. She would call people to get money to sponsor his campaign and do some PR for him. She got paid great, but the stress of the job was just too much for her. All her time was spent defending him, literally her entire life became devoted to someone else's dream. On top of that, journalists began to dig into her background, they found that she had a livejournal and a facebook and completely ripped her apart in a local newspaper. Althought freedom of press is still present, I don't think it should be used to discriminate on minorities such as women like her who are well-educated and just trying to do their jobs. Overall, politics suck.
ReplyDeleteI can easily see how that job can be stressful. I interned at Assembly Jack Quinn's office in Buffalo and saw that there was always a lot of work to do. I can only imagine running a campaign let alone doing the work once in office.
