Conservative Bias in Fox News

This is the opening scene from last weeks Saturday Night Live. I think this highlights the conservative bias that Fox news broadcasts.
Check out the last minute or so of the video. It references the 23rd congressional distract election we have been talking about in class. When asked for the election results that should have stated that the Democrat Bill Owens won; they responded with "It's just not that important."

  1. I think that this whole election doesnt mean anything. The only people that should care are those that had elections in their area. I could care less who won elections in New Jersey. I will admit fox news is bias but so is every other new channel, they just arent as obvious about it

  2. Meredith... you need to remember this is Saturday Night Live and not Fox. So when the comedian jokes at the end that the election was unimportant, he was not representing a news station's opinion. On the contrary, this was actually a very important election for the Republican party because many party members felt that this district would indicate the direction the party was taking. Dede was considered a bit too liberal to the conservatives which is why Hoffman was in the race at all. Their initial goal was actually to simply prevent Dede to get elected and preferred Owens to her. It wasn't until polls showed that Hoffman had a chance of winning did they really start pushing for him. So in the end, even though the Democrat won the race, the election was still a partial victory to conservatives because they prevented a liberal from representing the Republican party.

And let's give Fox a break... do we really want every media station to be heavily liberal biased? I think we can tolerate one station that dares to present alternate views.
