I found this interesting article about a man named Joe Gamble who lives in Syracuse and is trying to get marijuana legally prescribed as a pain reliever. Gamble has a disease called multiple sclerosis which causes him to studder and twitch constantly. Gamble uses marijuana to calm himself and control his multiple sclerosis. Gamble needs to get majiuana legalized so he doesn't get introuble for his activities. I believe for situations like this marijuana should be perscribed for pain relievers because it is obvious that Joe Gamble needs it for him to function correctly on an everyday basis.

I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has. I can be reached through MPP.org. This issue needs to come to a rest for all of the sick trying to get by with their ailments. Joe Gamble
ReplyDeleteI know someone near and dear to me that uses for the same reason and I strongly agree with the idea of marijuana as a pain reliever. This person has been to the doctor many time with complaints of pain and doctors are starting to refuse to prescribe her pain relief because they think she may be making up her pain as a way to get pain pills to sell on the streets. For relief she uses a little home remedy that seems to work pretty well. She goes to work everyday and lives a productive life which most would argue that marijuana use gets in the way of but I would have to disagree. That, however, is a different topic. The point I'm trying to make is I agree with this argument because I have witnessed it work.
ReplyDeleteI agree that, if used properly, marijuana can be a very effective medicine for people with certain diseases. Like most drugs, marijuana can be misused and abused, but if used in moderation, can help people like Joe Gamble cope with the symptoms that may normally limit them from day-to-day activities.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the fact that marijuana should be legalized for medicinal purposes. As said, sure it can and will be misused abused and that's like any drug. Still does not mean that people who need to suppress medical symptoms should suffer.
ReplyDeleteI think it is ridiculous that marijuana is still outlawed and highly illegal. Many people use it for medicinal use, others are addicted, some use it to relax. There are several different reasons for using it and there are even more reasons as to why it should be legalized. First of all, how are cigarettes legalized and marijuana is not? Cigarettes are highly addictive, are directly correlated with many different forms of cancer, and contain toxins such as rat poison. Marijuana is a natural plant grown in the earth and does not contain all these harmful chemicals. To argue for the business side of things, taxing marijuana would be very beneficial to our already terrible economy. The fact is, people have been smoking weed ever since the beginning of time and its time to start recognizing that and accepting it. Marijuana is in no way comparable to crack, cocaine, or these other "hard" drugs. Unlike with those drugs, people can still function after smoking and more often than not they can control themselves and their consumption, it is not like they need a constant "fix". I think we need to start using our resources such as police, courts, etc. for better things other than busting people for smoking a bowl. Why aren't we focusing on solving murders and real crimes, why are we still arresting people for having a miniscule amount of weed on them?

I think that marijuanna should be legalized period, not just for medical use. If pot were to be legalized and taxed then the government would also be happier because the tax from the amount of pot that would be bought and sold would be huge. And quite frankly pot being illegal doesn't stop those who want to smoke it. If anything it increases the use of the drug because getting away with it is just as appealing to young people as the after effects.
