As all of us faithful New Yorkers know, the Yankees clinched the 2009 World Series Championship on Wednesday night. When glancing through some articles online, I came across two instances of the same story from two different papers: a clear example of how newspapers have adopted the practice of running stories they did not write in order to publish content as soon as they can.

I agree it does seem a little odd that two different newspapers published the same article of the Yankees' parade. At the same time both papers are trying to send out the same message so why spend time writing a new article when both articles are going to say nearly the exact same thing?
ReplyDeleteThe article was written by the Associated Press. I believe that the associated press have exclusive rights to a bunch of the articles and photos used by newspapers all across the country. Local newspapers get a majority of their national stories from the associated press. I don't really mind it too much to be honest. As long as local newspapers don't completely forget local news, I think they will survive. They can't completely rely on the associated press.
