Only the first part about the Buffalo Sabres rookie, Tyler Ennis. He was on his way to Connecticut on a bus to play in his normal AHL game before getting called up hours before to go to Philly to fill in for an injured player...

  1. Thats the life of most professional athletes that play in the minor leagues. Whether it is hockey or baseball, players are constantly called up and sent down, which results in a lot of traveling on the expense of the player usually. Tough to make it in, but once they get a shot and do something with it, they can end up having a career in the major leagues.

  2. On the men's hockey team here at Clarkson we have 5 players that are drafted to organizations in the NHL. But in no way does it guarantee them a spot on the team. All it really does is allow the organization first dibs on the player as soon as they are ready to jump to pro hockey. Playing pro hockey and playing in the NHL are very different. It's still crazy though that most of these guys won't end up making it though. College hockey only accounts for 25 or 30% of players in the NHL. Just goes to prove the caliber of hockey not only in the NCAA but around the globe in all of the various leagues. Talk about a competitive job.
